New Bill Going Into Effect November 1st

A new law that increases the possible extent of liability for Oklahoma companies using telephone or text message marketing takes effect on November 1. The use of calls and text messages for marketing purposes is subject to rigorous regulations under the Oklahoma Telephone Solicitation Act (OTSA).

The OTSA forbids making a commercial telephone sales contact using a automated system without first receiving the called party’s prior express written consent. An individual who thinks they have received a call or message that violates the OTSA may sue the caller personally for at least $500.
